    Hello,

I have a question in regards to the Jobseeker benefit. I cam currently full time employed and would like to leave my current job. If all goes well and as planned the unemployment should only last 1-2 month.

According to citizensinformation I might be disqualified for up to 9 weeks if I voluntarily leave a job.

My question is how long is that disqualification in reality? Are the 9 weeks always applied or is it normally less.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

It depends on your reason for leaving.

A combination of needing time to study and complete a few certifications and lets call it a general dissatisfaction with the current state of things at my workplace.

Well I'll put it this way. My partner was able to fight to have the disqualification period waived after providing extensive documented proof that his place of work was forcing him to work illegal conditions and attempting to force him to perform illegal and highly dangerous activities concerning his role.
I highlight "fight" for a reason.

Thank you all. Guess I plan on the 9 weeks then.

Make sure you sign on,on the first day you are unemployed and let the dept decide on the 9 weeks.

Look for and apply for new jobs before you leave also and keep proof of applications.
