Can anyone advise if there is anything specific in church teachings or the Catholic ethos which encourages the interaction of family members/siblings in relation to development, recreational needs or just generally?

Offhand from a reading of Youcath (section 373) (a pocket version of the catechism) there was a piece on how the family should be a mirror of the wider Church community and as such strengthen their faith by performing works of charity together
This might encompass development/recreation as per OP's query?
