I'm near the end of fermentation of a nice northern style ale. Here's wha I did on the hop front ...
Boiled an ounce of aromatic hops in a muslin bag for 15 mins. Placed them into the FV. I disn't read this method anywhere, it just seems like a good idea at the time. Has anyone else added them this way ? What result ? Did it after a week, with a week still to go.

Best not to boil them as if your adding hop to the FV your looking to extract the aromatics.

Hops are naturally antiseptic, so don't need boiling. Its good to boil the muslin bag though to sanitize that.

some different opinions on this. I would have said no to boiling, but I had this debate before.

No harm in making hop tea and chucking the lot in, maybe not too much water if you don't want to water down the brew.

However the majority of folk I know (and myself) just chuck them in dry..

Definitely boil the muslin, if possible get a nylon bag for pellets - you'll thank me later
