Hi, I'm just wondering if there is any sort of group that helps people with your CV;s and searching for jobs and advice, beside recruitment agencies.
I'm finding it hard to sort through this I'm trying to figure out how to go about looking for a job effectively and to be honest I'm finding it extremely hard to be motivated and to be positive.
I have done a number of courses in the past but I'm not sure what I really want to focus on. I need someone to give me some honest feedback on options and what I should do (ie upskill more maybe). thanks

Don't FAS offer this type of thing (or what ever FAS is these days).

Have you tried your local social welfare office?

    Best of luck!

What are you able to do?
What do you want to do for work?

I'm not sure at this stage. I know I'll need to get working as soon as possible.

Well in Cork there's a job's club, they help with CV and interview. You go there for 3/4 weeks, for a few hours in the morning and if you attend the full course, you get a cheque for 80 euro at the end of it, for expenses. I found it pretty good. Maybe there's job clubs in other counties as well. And it nice as well because you are in a group with all other job seekers so everyone is in the same boat.

Best of Luck, I'm really struggling now at the moment between not knowing what to do and then just needing to do something, I've been accepted to do a ce scheme but I'm kind of worried and anxious about that now because I'm not really sure if I'm suited to this area but it just got to the stage where I felt I had to do something. Iv'e got major anxiety around it and its ruining my entire life because I'm trying to pick jobs around my anxiety.

Thanks, yeh, I can relate, being in my late 30's.

I was weary about doing that intreo jobs club thing if thats the one you're referring to, I thought maybe it would be a waste because it would be too basic, but based on what you said I think I'll definitely look into it, It could give me the motivation and focus that I find I'm lacking.

Well I did mine over a year and a half ago and I actually ended up looking forward to going there in the mornings because the group I was with were really nice and i did get a job after it but it was only a three month contract so was back to square one again. They did a mock interview and you get feedback and everything.

I just struggle so much with interviews and no matter how many I've done they just never seem to get easier for me but its my anxiety that's the major problem that I have to overcome. I'm doing the aware life skill course. just started this week so hopefully that might help a bit.

Sounds good, I'm gonna have a look into it, thanks for your helpful advice, hope you find that job.

    Hi all,

I'm in a similar situation in my late thirties. I've been out of work for a month now after completing a temporary contract with the civil service. I enjoyed the contract and I gave it my all so I could get an extension or get another role elsewhere in the civil service but unfortunately I was told this isn't possible no matter how good your performance.
So now I'm sitting here looking for jobs while staying uncomfortably at a friends house. It's a horrible situation to be in.

Tomorrow I am going to try this Job care course in Pearce St. Has anyone any experience of this course?
