the bayeux aire on rue manifiquet(large carpark in centre of town) is no longer available to overnight in a motorhome.
It has been replaced with one a few hundred metres away on rue trebucien

    lat 49.276348
    long -0.712541

no longer free 4 euro per night

We came across a lot of that this year alright. Police usually leave you for one night and then tell you to move to the new aire with barrier and charge next day.

    Shame.
Been there a few times even though crowded in summer.
Seems to be part of a trend... Municipal Aires going private with higher prices, Free parking moving to paid areas in not so nearly nice places, Sterile expensive brand new Aires with WiFi and barriers and swipe cards and hardcore and annual memberships. In contrast the Germans provide mostly free parking and either free or very cheap electrical hookup.
Bayeux is very popular with tourists. Just like with Versailles who have recently stopped free parking for motor homes. I'd go elsewhere. They probably won't notice.
