Hi- with a lot of new cars launched I've notice this new Superb version and think it looks like Skoda want a piece of the success that Audi see with the S Line trim :

What are people's thoughts? I'm expecting we might see a few on the roads next year and would love one myself though the risk is that it will be priced too near to the 'premium' 2.0 diesels

Yup pricing is getting up there now. In that guise, I would have it over any other 'premium' 2.0 diesels currently on offer.

They are getting up there. I could see this being close to the L&K in terms of price.

I take it this is just a trim level similar to the VW R-Line spec.

I think the R-line is based on the base model but this Superb looks to be a high spec machine - large screen sat nav, electric sports seats etc - or at least the one at launch is equipped like this

The Golf and Passat R Line don't appear to be based on the Trendline anyway.

I've seen some R-lines, for a while they were based on the basic UK model, only had fancy trim on the outside and not much else really.
    This looks fully loaded.
Extras are where the manufacturers make all the money. It's probably 90% profit or more on every extra they sell!

All that Piano Black will be a bitch to keep clean...

Just looked there and yeah the Edition R Golf is in a similar, like . Have'nt seen too many on the road though

Extras cost a fortune but it can be more sensible buying the higher spec model as you might get a bit more for a Sportline versus Ambition but probably wont get any more for an Ambition with 3k of extras

Do the dealers generally get better margin on the extra's though or is it the manufacturers that usually get extra profit from them?

Dealers might get a small cut, but I'd say the vast bulk of the profit is to the manufacturer.
