hi, my bro in law bought a new laptop..lenovo thinkpad win 8.. He followed all instructions during set up...but the problem is that on his task bar has lots of icons but the only one that works is the start button on the left which brings him to the app screen..when u click on the others using the built in mouse it just makes a ping sound and they dont open or you cant right click on the taskbar....also the wifi has been set up and its on his sky wifi and the pwd is correct but when he goes on to IE or chrome it says page cant be displayed even though there are 3/4 bars of reception on wifi symbol....we are not technical but this Win 8 is sooo confusing..any ideas anyone?

That ping noise means that what ever you are clicking is frozen (in this case, the task bar). Normally a restart of the explorer process or, if you aren't familiar with restarting processes, a restart of the computer itself will bring back functionality.
If that doesn't work, since it's still new and has very little setup, I would try a factory reset.
