Will have to see if the quality is good so may not yet prove to be a bargain

cornerstone.co.uk have €14 off your first delivery of shaving products. I ordered the blades only with their custom aluminium handle. Regular price is €19 for 6 blades which works out a little cheaper than my usual Mach 3 blades

I got 400 Russian razor blades for a direct razor on Ebay for €20. They will literally last me about 5 years. Those 6 blades might last you a month and cost you the same amount

Hey can you post a link to that thread. Sounds great!! 😀

Surely a mention of that razorpit gadget can't be too far behind... Followed by someone saying that you get the same results from rubbing your razor on a pair of jeans.

Want to shave better and save a fortune, get yourself a nice safety razor. Spend your money on something like this http://www.shaving.ie/products/muhle-r89-rosegold.html You won't go back to mach3's!

I have one with a brush, blades etc and couldn't get on with it at all. Too many cuts and nicks. Watched YouTube videos etc but still ended up with a sore face.

Stuff is just sitting in the bathroom now not being used and I've had to go back to a Gillette.

Also the whole rigmarole just took too long.

Has anyone used the one in the link?

Yea, switched to it when my last one broke, has great reviews, takes no time to shave once you get used to it, using one about 3 years or more now...box of blades will last years.

At op with it in the drawer, try different blades, I never get nicks or cut myself..

Maybe so, but i'll be dressed, gone & downing my third pint while you're still stoking up your prorasa.

You just cannot beat a fusion for speed ;)

Fusion is maybe 30 seconds quicker once you get used to a DE. Doesn't take much more than 3 to 4 minutes from start to finish and saves a bundle.

I was often so close to trying one of these but backed off as apparently from what I can see on videos etc, you need a very gentle touch for these, ( No pressure on them?)
Unfortunately I have a very very heavy hand and am in no doupt I would massacre myself.

    Any opinions??

Great razor. You should try it again or at least sell it on the shaving thread.

What type of brush do you have ?

With the shipping time from Ali, you'll be one hairy bstrd before it arrives to your door. And at that price point, I'd rather shave with a bread knife.

I had the same fears as you but I changed to DE razors 2 years ago and could never go back to an electric or mach3.

I wondered the same thing a few years back and had it explained like this: the multi-blade razors tend to lift and hack the hair (they even used to advertise bragging about this). The result is the hair follicle can often then retract below the surface of the skin. With a DE you slice once perfectly level with your skin. So while it is super smooth after shaving, your 5 o'clock shadow might seem heavier. However, since the hair isn't below the surface of the skin, in-grown hairs are a thing of the past.

So the disposable that 'lifts and hacks' is closer ?

And I've never had issues with ingrown hairs, as I would imagine applies to the vast majority of similar users.

I still get a few ingrown hairs even with my safety blade :(

It has improved since getting the razor

Try rubbing some witch hazel onto your face with a cotton pad after you are finished shaving but before you put on after shave balm.

Do you put that oil on before lather?

I've been through the lot. Loved my Gillette blades but got sick of paying an arm and a leg for them. Tried DE shaving but never found a blade/ razor combination that shaved as close as a Gillette sensor, but the bigger problem is that I got tired of spending 20 minutes a day to shave a bit of stubble off my face. Sourced some Russian Gillette contour blades off eBay which were decent and relatively cheap. BUT I finally found the best solution of all which are the 12 pack swivel head disposables in Aldi for 89c. They sound terrible, but the actually give a really, really good shave for pennies. I think anyone who tries them will be surprised.

You can use it with or without the lather..usually I put it on before.. Little 25ml bottle lasts for ages and is produced here in Ireland

I use the Aldi Lacura (?) shaving system, as good as gillette fusion. I treated myself to the €5 luxury version rather than the €3 basic model, refills are dirt cheap, cant remember how much exactly because I got about a years worth of blades with my first purchase and havent needed them but Gillette lost a lifelong customer in me anyway, no need for it.

I use the Lacura shaving gel aswell, 89 cents for a can that lasts 3 months, got to love living beside an Aldi...

So the original bargain alert arrived. Grit value 6 blades in total for a really close shave. Not much better then the old reliable machine 3 though
