Opel Astra - For Parts / Scrap

    Hi,

We have an Opel Astra that has pretty much died (timing belt came off when the car was running). Here is a link to DoneDeal which shows the car.

    cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/open-astra-2001-tax-june-2016-needs-repair/10244307

As the car is taxed until June 2016, we thought it might be of some value but we've had no replies.

Any recommendations for a facility in Cork that can EOL this car?

    Cheers

Lower you price to a realistic level(100-150) and you may get some interest, the reality is a clean running one is barely worth 600 and yours has a distinct look of neglect.

Car is not worth much more than it's scrap value in its current state, you can buy a running Astra for €600 these days. Cannot see anyone paying that for unpopular automatic one that needs a new engine.

    Pouladuff Dismantlers do that.

I think you can claim tax back on a car that has been scrapped can't you? in blocks of three months full months. if you act before the end of the month you could claim 9 months tax back worth around €280(?) and then collect €100 scrap for the car. best way out of that situation imo, if possible.

Sounds like the way we are probably gonna go.
