Took a novice out yesterday evening for bit of lessons on some rabbits. Took him to a place I have that's swarming with rabbits but havint shot it since may.
From den to May I shot at least 100-150 rabbits with mixxy so yesterday I was expecting some mixxy rabbits.
Went out anyway and showed him the ropes. First field had about 30 rabbits in it and we took two with him getting his first. After 2 hours and seen about 100 altogether finished with 6 and a few missed shots.
These 6 were the healthiest rabbits I've ever seen. No signs of mixxy about. All really alert rabbits and perfect ones at that. Some nice size ones aswell.
So it helps to hit the mixxy early in the year while it's damp and cold.
New lad had a blast. Have two in the oven now for later :)

I haven't seen any Mixxy this year at all on my permission, the place was riddled with it last year.
I know the rabbit numbers are down a bit but I have been shooting it hard and was putting it down to that, I wounder if the rabbits are starting to build up an immunity to it?

They do - but then another strain of it comes along and the cycle repeats itself
