TV licence...court appearance

Hi just looking for a bit of advice, Iv been issued with a court summons for not holding a TV licence (guilty as charged just honestly couldn't afford it on one parent family) just wondering can I pay it now or will it make a difference? Iv just started my new job so I could hopefully pay it with my first and second wages.
