My elderly mother has not received her Water Conservation Grant letter yet even though she registered on 31.01.15.  Quite a number of her friends have not received them either and they are getting very worried about this as elderly people are prone to do when it concerns €100.  Is there any particular reason for this or is it just coincidence i.e. they were originally to get the money under the Benefits package paid quarterly but this is no longer the case.  They have paid their bills to-date.

I have read the Q&As this evening and it says she can request a new TIN (Transaction Identification Number)  if she has lost her original one.  I have searched the site and cannot find this option.

As she has a UPC telephone package she cannot afford to ring either a VOIP or 1890 number.

Would appreciate a reply from Irish Water personnel.  Thank you.

I know you want answers from IW, but here just to let you know that my letter arrived today.

It is strange, however, that the letters are to arrive until end of the month leaving you with whole 7 days to apply for the grant.
Especially for elderly people who might find it difficult to do it online or over the phone.

Just because your mother registered in January doesn't mean she would get her letter before everyone else, though. They are sending them out as we speak.

The Water Conservation Grant letters are still being issued by the Department of Social Protection. We would advise that if your mother has not received a letter about the grant by September 30th, that she contact the Water Conservation Grant Support Team. The only alternative number we can provide for this team is: 0761 087 890.

I hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have any further queries.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah

Thanks for the reply which does not really tell me anything.

I'm already aware that the letters are still going out but as wonski mentioned above it is unfair to elderly people to be leaving it so late for their letters.

The number that you offer above costs the same as 1890 and AFAIK is a VOIP number which would make the call expensive in light of the waiting times with Irish Water.  Why this company is allowed to use these expensive numbers and keep people holding for long periods is beyond me but at this stage its what we can expect. A landline number or e-mail would be so much better.

Interesting that it took gctest50 to provide the TIN link that I was looking for and no advice given by Irish Water if this is another route that could be taken.

As the Water Conservation Grant is issued and administered by the Department of Social Protection and not Irish Water, we would advise that you contact the Water Grant Support Team regarding these concerns. They can be contacted at 1890 100 043 or 0761 087 890. More information is also available here.

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

    Kind regards,
    Allanah
