Hi. Was after a bit of advice on my method.

About 6 years ago I fitted my own stove which still works fantastic.
It was originally designed as an open fire but never used as such.

But with a toddler now roaming the room I want to refit it . This is the stove currently.

    And the flu adaptor ..

I want to take out the metal surround and timber surround.

Plaster the inside of the opening,

Refit the stove back a bit inside the opening ..

My aim is to create a better space in front of the stove as I will have a large child fire guard in front.

I am also looking to conform to the requirements of harth space in front as hot coal has fallen from the front to my timber flooring in the past. Creating a bit of a panic.

I am happy to keep using my clay flue adaptor . I will not be relining my flue.

My main concern would be heat transfer to the chimney breast. And if my plaster would be able to withstand the more direct heat.

As now the stove only heats the room and not the breast.

I am planing to remove the fire back with a lump hammer,

Fix cement board to the back and sides of the opening ,

bead and plaster the opening, and paint .

Refit the stove reusing the metal flue parts.

    refit the timber surround.

Hoping that 100 euro should do in material costs. For a sheet of cement board, a bag of fire cement + sand and sealant for refitting the flue parts. My stove is a 6kw Stanley Oisin

    What do ya think?
