According to one reviewer the new version is out next month but I'm sure it will be pricey compared to this. Guess it's down to what you want to do with it.
the new version of this is out in October 2015 (2 months from now) - its got twice the storage built in (64GB) its got the new Skylake intel processor which is much much much more powerful, its got 4GB of Ram (twice as much so eleviates this "how many windows you got open" problem. It supports 4K resolutions (yeay! - now just need some content :( and Its got USB 3.0!

According to the Intel press release the Skylake compute stick won't be available until "early 2016" rather than October, so it might be a long wait...

Asus have also announced the Vivostick which has the Cherry trail chip and Windows 10 at an rrp of £84. It's not available yet either but should be available pretty soon (hopefully).

DO NOT BUY THIS. I repeat; DO NOT BUY THIS.

New version is coming out this/next quarter hopefully. It will have a much faster processor. The chip in this current one just isn't worth the money. Trust me ;)

    DO NOT BUY THIS.

I see its back up to £100 now in any case.

I have the Linux one. It's surprisingly fast considering the bad CPU and only 1gb of memory. And 8gb of storage on the Linux version of which less than 1gb is free :)

But doing more than one thing at a time totally bogs it down because it starts swapping. It's OK for what I needed anyway. In essence I don't think the idea is a bad one.

I totally would skip the current generation at this stage though.
