Public transport Leixlip to Navan?

Is it possible to do (Saturday only) without going all the way into Connolly and coming back out again on the BE 109 from Busarus?

Does the 109 stop close to any of the train stations it passes: Navan Rd Pk Way/Dunboyne/M3 Parkway? Or even Castleknock?
[Oddly, two morning 109s going to Navan go through Dunboyne, but none on the way back?]

Or is it dis-integrated transport as usual from CIE?

you must go all the way to Connolly, the 109 does not serve the bus stop outside Navan rd Parkway

    No they don't.

They could get off at Ashtown and catch the 109 from the outbound stop on the city side of the roundabout and the reverse coming home (5 minute walk).

They could get off at Castleknock and catch the 109 from the stop on the Blanchardstown bypass (10 minute walk). This will only work outbound.

And finally they could get off at Coolmine and walk to the Blanchardstown Centre and catch the 109 there (that's about a 25 minute walk).

Otherwise get off at Clonsilla, and get a 39 to the Blanchardstown Centre from there.

Ashtown isn't listed as a stop on be's website and changing there isn't an option on the journey planner when I checked.

The 109 most certainly does stop at the stops at the Halfway House.

It's listed as Dublin (Opp Halfway House).

Where are you finding these stops? They're not mentioned in the 109 timetable?

Long term knowledge in the first instance. I've seen the 109 stopping along the Navan Road before.

Secondly they are listed in the Journey Planner.

I don't doubt you but the Journey planner says Connolly-Busarus 100% of the time. Not great...

    No it does not.

On the Home Page, type in "Half Way House" and select Dublin (Opp. Half Way House) as your point of origin.

It is showing the times from that stop as I look at it right now.

You may need to clear your cache.

Will you post a screen grab?

Here's what I get told. All Maynooth/109 entries are via Busarus.

Sorry - I was using the Bus Eireann website and their journey planner for a trip from Half Way House to Navan.

Just use that and the IE timetable pdf and you will be able to plan a journey yourself.

But just allow enough time for the connections at Ashtown (walk time and time for buses being early or late).

Newsflash: Irish Journey planners are sh!t.

What exctly is the purpose of this thread? If you are actually looking to make this journey than you have your answer; Train to Ashtown, walk to bus stop opposite Halfway House, 109 to Navan. Halfway house is recognised stop for the 109, is regularly used and last time I looked had a BE flag on the shelter. Just make sure to flag the bus down as they don't stop unless hailed.

If you are trying to highlight the bad information provided by the journey planner than well done. I suggest you contact TfI and ask them why their software is determined to waste your time and money.

FYI If you put in Ashtown Train Station-Navan it suggests the 6 minute walk to the bus stop and 109 route not a connection via Connolly-Busaras, why it does not use this same route also for a passenger on a train stopping at Ashtown is down to a poor implementation of the journey planner software.

Now if the line going to the M3 Parkway was instead re-extended to Navan, then one would change at Clonsilla station.

The 15.10 and 16.10 from Navan stop in Dunboyne.BE timetable
If you could get a lift to Dunboyne (or take a taxi) your journey would be only about 45mins. Using a taxi should work out at about €10-€15 extra, if time was important.

You could also do Leixlip - Clonsilla - Dunboyne on the train and pick up the BE bus that way. That should only take about 80 minutes.

Much and all as I would like to see that, no date can be predicted for the line to go to Navan. It got Banjoxed.

Official Ireland's priority was to buy the land for the M3 and set up a shadow tolling deal. Pretending that the railway could be built and operational before 2015 was a diddycoy.

Journey planners are sh!t, and for those of us who never travel on the 109 from the Halfway House, we're lucky to have you. Hurray!

Thanks for the info. Leixlip to Dunboyne is easy (rail) and I had missed there are 16.10 and 18.10 arrivals into Dunboyne from Navan.

I would still suggest that the Ashtown option is easier.

There is a longer walk at Dunboyne - the Bus Eireann bus stop is in the town and not at the station, and you are adding an extra connection into the equation.
