I'm saying the old saying; "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".... but.

    http://www.iflscience.com/technology/bone-conducting-headphones
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ostrich-pillow/batband
Three transducers within the device target your temporal and occipital bones, delivering what the company calls “a hi-fidelity bone-conduction sound experience.”

If it works, great. It'll fit nicely under a woolly hat :)

If it does work correctly, it may revolutionise the way us hard of hearing folk listen to our music and TV.

I am aware that there are other products that say they deliver this, but haven't heard of anyone who has used one, and the above came on my FB news feed from IFLS.

If it does bypass the eardrum, and still sound in the way that we are used to sound sounding, it could allow men and women with damaged eardrums to hear again.

Came across these; http://amzn.com/B00XJDMNOQ which I found to get a score from http://www.everydayhearing.com/hearing-technology/articles/bone-conduction-headphones/

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B009G89ZDU is just under €50 but it seems it's not the best for heavy music, so shall ignore them.

Thats mad as I saw someone wear one of these in Smithfield (Dublin) today.. a bright pink one and was looking at it weirdly thinking how did it work... I'd be curious to note if it works in conjunction with my BAHA

I usually get my BAHA stuff from connevans

But if this doesnt require a BAHA, i'd definitely be interested too

    Googled BAHA, and got https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochlear_Bone_Anchored_Solutions
The system transfers sound to the inner ear through the bone
These devices claim to do the same; vibrate the noise off the skull.

    A quick Google got me;

I gotta say, I love the comments :)

So, have ordered AS401XB, and will let ye know how I find it. Got the wired version, as reviews have said that the Bluetooth version isn't meant to be great for sound.

    Well what's the verdict?

Forgot about this thread. Great if your hearing aid can hear the t-coil, but otherwise useless. Also, only a light showing on or off, and no battery status, so suddenly it just runs out of battery with no warning.

But that aside, I use it regularly, as it provides great music quality via the T switch of my hearing aids. One thing I have found that if the music is set to too loud, my ITE hearing aids vibrate, which is uncomfortable. But don't need to set the music too loud to hear it clearly.

From a bone conduction perspective, useless. The bits that vibrate are have small speakers (so lots of music "leakage"), but it doesn't really send the music into your head.

All in all, for t-coil, great, but as bone conduction; I think they're not at the right location. I did a hearing test recently, and the place where he put the bone conduction speaker was at a totally different location on my head, than to where my ears are.
