I was all set to go view two of these tomorrow, however I've read online some bad things about the timing belt being a major fault in this engine,

So now I'm a but wary if buying one!! Is it just the Internet amplifying the problem or are they one to stay away from!!

    They're 2008s, I'll only be keeping it till 2019!!
Max mileage will be 30-35000 miles over the four years!!

Bought an 08 tsi highline in 09 with 12k miles.drove it for 2years and 38k miles with excellent performance-45+ mpg, very nippy anddidnt miss a beat.use the castrol edge 5w30 oil and service at time and you should be ok.

I have mine just over a year, it's 2008 also with 120k kms, no issue with the chain so far...touch wood.

The turbocharged 122bhp engine gives comparatively little chain trouble.

It's mostly the twin-charged 140bhp and 170bhp ones that act up.

Mine is 4 years old and the engine is a peach, no issues at all.

No problem, hurlsey.A hidden gem of a car which was a victim of the mad rush towards diesel.Best of luck with it
