My inside Oil burner just packed in, it's inside in the laundry room, should we put the new one outside or just put a new one where it is, been told to go for a condenser boiler now, the current one is about 20 years old.
Any brand or type to look at, we've no zones, presume they can't be added now?

If your getting a new boiler the grant vortex is the best, grant euroflame is not bad either. All new oil boilers in ireland now are condensing boilers. What make is the boiler you have..,Is it the boiler that is leaking or is it the burner that is not working..,it not very expensive to fix or even buy a new burner in comparison to fitting a new boiler

There's fluid everywhere and i't rusted, it's a bit wrecked internally as well, not sure what power can't see any marking, it's a myson.

Would you move it outdoors, it's connected to it's own chimney at the moment..

Yes move it outside. Have you the option of Nat gas? Get a plumber to see if zoning is an option, because if it is, then there's sizeable grants for a boiler upgrade with heating controls( zoning )

I asked a plumber before and said zoning wasn't an option, there's an awful amount of radiators 30, looked at putting a thermostat on them before but seemed expensive... Don't know if gas is available.

Make sure to find out why it got into such a state and make sure that it isn't caused by poor plumbing. Maybe it was just neglect through poor or no servicing.

I service lots of boilers of that age that are still running very well.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

Had it serviced about a year ago and it was ok but could have done with some new parts but the service guy never came back with them, house is pretty warm so it;s been out since about march and we never refilled it but need to start switching on the heating again around now, it looks like there's a leak with the chimney it's going into, can't tell but looks like water came down into it,

With 30 rads I'd definitely get a second opinion on the zoning. Not all plumbers think alike

If it's not possible to zone it which I don't think it is, would electronic programmable valves be the only way to set zones...

had a look on the honewell site, i'm sure i can get it cheaper but for 8 zones this is what i came up with..
    Estimate
    Part Number
    ATP921R3100 evohome Wi-Fi base pack 1 £249
    ATF500DHW evohome Hot Water Kit 1 £85

    ATF600 evohome In-Wall Power Supply 1 £39
    HR92UK Radiator Zone Kit 13 £767
    Total £1169.00

It's old, so it is probably better to change it for a condensing one. But, are you sure that it is leaking ? Boilers often fill up with water if off for the Summer, especially if connected into a wide open chimney. A lot of rain can come down over a Summer like we had - depends where in the country you are.
