    Hi all,

Hope this is the correct forum for this and isn't stepping on any toes.

I want to provide concrete proof of a holiday abroad I took within the EU back in 2013 for use in a legal dispute. I won't go into any detail on this but the strength of this proof is very important.

Any advice on which direction to go would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

In the past we have approached airlines to prove people where out of the country.

I would ask your solicitor what they believe would be strong evidence, as they'll be the one using it.

Having said that, I would assume credit card statements showing transactions from abroad would be good. As would proof of travel to the country (via passport stamp or airfare).

Any paperwork, receipts etc should help. If you stayed in a Hotel or B & B did you get a receipt or do you have a booking confirmation. If not contact the place where you stayed and ask them for paperwork.
    Airline booking?
    Good luck

Photos are geotagged - did you take any with a smartphone or modern digital camera?

If holiday was a long one, wouldn't a lot of proof be needed?
Say it was France, whats to stop someone flying to France with family and returning via Ferry or even another flight and wife and family using Credit Cards, Camera, mobile phone etc?

It probably depends on the severity of the charge?

Assuming this is a civil case, it would fall to the balance of probabilities (ie. more likely than not they went on holidays).

They are road traffic violations (failure to produce licence and insurance).

When stopped by the Gards in 2013 somebody gave my name spelt incorrectly, the wrong address and wrong date of birth.

On the date this occurred I was on a family holiday in Portugal.

On Friday evening a Gard called to my mothers address with a penal warrant for me (have not lived there for 10 years). This was the first I had heard of anything to do with this.

To my astonishment and disbelief apparently this has gone through the courts twice since 2013 and in June last year my licence was disqualified and I received a large fine, all without any of my knowledge whatsoever.

Basically I have driving around for a year with my kids in the car on a banned licence and I'm assuming worthless insurance.

Yesterday I had to take the day off work, go into the central courts office in the city to lodge an appeal and have a court date on Mon 28th.

Nobody seems to want to listen to me and my licence is still disqualified until the court date.

You should really get a solicitor

    1. Gather all documentary evidence of your holiday expenditures.

    2. Ask your solicitor to copy it to the Garda dealing with your case
