I can't remove a door handle - any advice?

What I thought was going to be simple has me baffled! I tried to remove this door handle - but after removing the grub screw the handle will not slide off the bar.

Looking into the hole it looks as though there is a slot in the bar.

Can anyone offer any advice as to how to remove these handles please?

The round silver backing plate hides all at end of handle as in part at door.

Ah! Thanks. I was wondering about that but as there is a screw on the handle I assumed that was the way in. I could not see anyway of removing the round silver plate as it appears to go behind the handle so I thought it was the handle that was holding the plate in place.

Yeah, the round silver bit is just a cap that's screwed on. You can screw it off and then you'll have access to the full handle mechanism.

But there are no screws in the round cap. Plus the diameter of the hole in it appears to be smaller that the outer diameter of the handle so it won't slide over the handle (unless I'm missing something obvious?)

In the second picture you can see a little gap in the round part that is against the door at the bottom.
Put a small screwdriver in here and the round plate should lever off (Some pop off and some screw by putting pressure against the plate and turning the whole plate anti clockwise)

I saw the gap you mention - thanks for that - I'll see if it will move.

I tried popping the round part off - it would not come off as the round washer between that and the handle stopped it!

I then tried screwing it anti-clockwise but it just kept going around and around!

Maybe try the other side and do the same

I did that - then fiddled with the washer part - turns out it was not centred properly!

Once I figured that out I was able to pop the cap off - sorted :)

Thanks for the tips lads ;)
