    Hi guys,

Just got into farming the past couple of months and was hoping to get into the second round of glas, but was just informed by an ag advisor that I won't be able to get into this round as I didn't have any maps submitted back in May and I won't be on the online system, so I will have to wait for the third round which opens in July next year and won't start paying out until the end of 2017.
does anyone know if there is anyway of getting into this round or is it just a case of tough luck and I'll have to wait

sounds like tough luck & wait

i was a new entrant this year & couldn't apply for the 1st round so i assume in your case it's the same because of the maps

Yeah looks like you will have to wait tis a pity as anyone that applied will get in by the looks of it.

Thanks for the replies lads, bit gutted I've missed out on this round but on the plus side he told me I'm nearly guaranteed to get in the next one because I'm in a hen harrier area, and he also thinks I would qualify for the 7000 euro payment instead of the 5000 , so not all bad news

We will not know until sometime in October. Haven't heard any further updates but it seems that the majority of first time applicants will be accepted http://www.farmersjournal.ie/early-october-before-glas-farmers-know-of-approval-187890/

And then have the bulk of the work done before next April if memory serves

I presume that our application has been accepted. We are trying to figure out how we are going to plough, till and sow seed this Autumn with present ground conditions in Longford. Forget about trying in early Spring as the ground is always too wet.

According to the journal this morning payments being slashed for the second round.
Starting to worry about the first round now. Very slow in hearing any confirmation about it.

    new changes for 2nd tranche

the drop in LIP is the biggest hitter i think

What could a farmer with 45 hectares but no commonages, SPA/SAC, Rare breeds or organic animals expect to get in this new scheme if they're lucky enough to get into the feckin thing??

To be honest I don't think you would get in unless you applied for the first round.
Even then a few thousand Max.

Finishing AEOS2 in a few weeks so i couldn't have applied before now or could I have applied sooner?

It would be best to ask your planner as my knowledge would be limited to press releases and what l heard from other people.
If you had spa you could transfer in the middle of aeos scheme into glas+ but not sure if you can otherwise.
The next round of glas is aimed at tier 1 farmers.

Anyone hear any updates as to whether you got in on the first application.
Haven't heard anything yet. Will we be notified on Agfood?

I think there is a bit about it in the journal. Only just glanced at it last night. We should hear in the next fortnight l think it said. €900 (average) will be paid out this side of Christmas to those that get in.

Just wondering here, with the delay in hearing about glas and the evenings shortening and ground conditions deteriorating fast will we get an extension past April for inspections starting? The out farm here is fast approaching untravellable and I would need to get out with a tractor amd trailer to clean up after coppicing and the post driver to fence the waterways. If the early spring comes wet I could struggle to complete the work.

Think it's March 2017 that the work has to be done for.
Yes I'd like to get most done this winter too, rather than last minute rush.
Will we be notified on February 29th? As the date keeps slipping

Saw on FJ/Agriland that 97% got in, shouldn't be too hard to let us know.
Don't know if you're in the 3%, would it be worth joining next tranche

All applicants to glas will receive a letter on Monday dated in October so there will be three months payments for this year, I.e October, November, December for successful applicants.

Still no letter to say I got into glas yet, although I must have just after getting the farm soil sample for it this morning?
