Was in the filling station this morning and looks like building work is happening around the back. Is this the refurbishment of the shop and the new drive thru Applegreen have been granted permission for last year finally happening

As a matter of taste, KFC do or did a remarkable frothy coffee, don't do Mac's. Actually going to Lemybrien is worth while, if you have never travelled the road from Carrick to Lemybrien do yourself a favour, the view of the mountains is superb and there is a really brill parking picnic spot about hallway, added to which you can sit in applegreen and enjoy the view and the coffee, lovely for a sunny day, you can sometimes get interesting vehicles pull in.
You can come back over the mountains or take in Mahon Falls and the famous road, take the turn for Rathgormack and end up in Clonmel. Just try it some day it will be worth it, Foxy loves nature

Ha don't do Mac's. You don't know what your missing Foxy. Best coffee in town, almost as good as Nesspresso.! You can sit there watching the sulkies traearsing around the roundabout or look at the ponies tied uo in the disabled parking bays.
Beats the Mahon Falls any day:).
    I'm lovin It Odyssey !

I would have thought a BurgerKing at Junction 7 (Paulstown) would have been overkill with the BK opposite the the Carlow It...

The BlackQuarry BK and the Carlow one would serve a different customer base than the Paulstown one anyway

Black quarry are getting a place called chopsticks. No burger king or subway unfortunately

Apart from Big Mc being the wrong side of town, Daddy said he would not be happy if we took either the Jag or the Merc to the Hebron, he is a bit anti with Market Yard, however we are much closer to Clonmel, by the way next to Tesco is a brand new Superking plenty of parking, just off the ring road.
Of course one can enjoy a coffee at Dove Hill if the fancy takes you. If you haven't been to Carrick for a while Supervalu have a massive car park and it is a charming little town.
My favourite will be Lemybrien, the views are worth the trip, to sit and look out sipping a latte something to dream about.

Do we know we are getting a BK at Paulstown? That's true but the Carlow is a good way off the next junction. Serves the town rather the M9 directly.

Apparently a UK noodle bar chain, story here about another applegreen getting one.

OH got some at their unit in the M1 Balbriggan service station a couple of months ago. From memory there was 8 or 10 choices of dishes and a few choices of rice or noodles. Verdict: yummy

Chinese or perhaps oriental food on the go, at least one should be able to see how it is cooked, added to which Applegreen is probably one of the most hygienic eat as you go restaurants, if Lemybrien is anything to go by. One problem with franchise outlets is the calibre of staff, this in fact goes all the way down the line, food providers, this goes for supermarkets, must ensure the highest standards from staff.
I know it is slightly going off thread but so many supermarkets try to get rid of short dated foods by mixing dates to confuse shoppers, go and look at the take away offerings and dried up wedges, sausages etc, lets hope Chopstix is above these criticisms.

That be great. That side of city is brutally served in terms of retail etc so it would be very useful.

That area used to be served by so many corner shops and now there's hardly any left. It would be great to see a new petrol station and shop go in there.

The only concern I'd have is the T junction coming back up to Dominic St. It's not the best at busy times and if the petrol station were to do well which hopefully it does it could increase traffic flow there.

Yea, thought the same. Very poorly designed layout. Was fine in the 80s when traffic was much lighter, now it's almost impossible get there at peak times. Maybe a mini roundabout and traffic calming would help.

True but then you'd have a mini roundabout nearly on top of the larger one at the top of Dean St. Would be worth a shot I think though, it can be a disaster turning right there at times coming from Blackmill st.

An interesting site for apple green. It's actually a pretty big site if to be redeveloped.

That shop and the one on kennyswell road have both closed in the last few years. Why is this site all of a sudden got potential?

Is it our desire for a new modern shop and out with the old.
Is it the CAS briging more traffic to the area.

Yeah nasty junction alright. It will be round about central. I presume the kennyswell road junction will need a roundabout as well.

    How about traffic lights?

Yea I was going to say they would be inevitable but you'd have traffic backed up around the existing roundabout then. That junction and particularly the greens bridge one can be very difficult to turn right at.

I'm all for roundabouts ahead of traffic lights anyway.
