    Had a long conversation with my broker on Friday as my renewal was due. Both my house and car insurance is with them.
    They admitted that there is little or no semblance of uniformity to quotes they are getting.
    They went through my policy and we took off a couple of add on's like open drive ( not used once this policy year) and the named driver (who only drove the car twice in the policy year) . They went back to my current insurer and managed to knock almost 300 of the price bring it to less then this year's.
    Don't simply go by what the websites are quoting you.
    Get onto the ones that are competitive and make them work for their cash.

    If it's any use to you, I'm finding AXA quite competitive the last couple of years.

    As has been asked and answered on here forever at this stage there is no one insurance company that is cheaper than the rest for everybody. You will need to put the legwork in and ring around them all to see who is offering the best cover at the most competitive price.

    I'm afraid it's overly tedious at renewal time every year but has to be done, there really is no short cut.

    Axa came good for me this year, had to leave them last year as too expensive and chills this year was 100 more than axa, mrs got a good deal from aviva, I changed yesterday and she's changing next week.
    530d, fully comp, bonus insured, 30,000 miles a year, max NCD...560

    Doing the online searches myself tonight as my renewal premium was €555.

    Here's what I got for comprehensive:

    Chill = 620
    Aviva = 401
    AA = 583
    Axa = 647.
