We are thinking of relocating to Co Clare and are looking at a house in Inch, being from Mayo we are very anxious that our kids have the option to play both football & hurling, we understand some clubs only play Hurling including Kilmaley which is connected to Inch. What is the etiquette as regards playing hurling with one and travelling to another for football or is it the done thing? Or where would be the best place to live in order to have the best of both worlds!! TIA for your help!

Kilmaley players usually but not always travel to Lissycasey to play their football and vise versa for hurling as Lissycasey as a football only club. One notable example is Colin Lynch who played football with Lissycasey and hurling for Ennis and also Kilmaley.

As - Carazy said, traditionally, anyone in Kilmaley who wanted to play football went to Lisseycasey and visa-versa. If you go a bit further north, you have the same between Ballyea (Hurling) & Clonegad (Football - Currently in the county semi-final and a lot of peoples favorites to win it.)

For a full on Dual Club, in the Ennis Area, you are looking at Eire Og (which is in Ennis itself) or St Josephs Doorabarefield (The opposite side of Ennis to Inch)

After that - You would have dual clubs in Shannon & Cratloe in the South East. But apart from them you will have very very little football at all East of Ennis.
