As far as I know gearbest will be selling this for only a few dollars more. I reckon their better to deal with. Also this tablet has overheating issues because of poor heat dissipation.

actually bought this 3 weeks ago. delivered by aliexpress and dhl to shannon in 4 days but been sitting there. seller gave me a 50 dollar receipt which i didnt use which may have saved me the customs charge (i havent gotten it yet but im sure i will)

The specs look great, but I'm really wondering how much space is left after Windows 10 and Android 5.1 is installed with all the apps they come with.

Not much I'd say. But I believe it has a micro sd slot. I've ordered one. Though my payment is still to clear? I placed an order this morning using parcel motel as the delivery address and it was blocked. So we'll see.

Edit: Cancelled again :-/ Just after the 24hr sale period was up! I guess I'll have to use Ge****st. Sigh.

yes, you can add the sd card, but the app still needs to install on build-in storage not the sd card, so still concern about the fluency of ablet performance is.

Seriously has anyone Googled the overheating issues on this tablet? If wait a different brand, Chuwi or Cube as I believe their cherry trail tabs may come in the next few weeks.

I've ordered one of these. No rush on it. Hopefully the over hearing issued have been over come.

I wonder can you set how storage is allocated?

Really tempted to pull the trigger, but the fact that when you have anything peripheral devices connected to the usb then you cant charge the unit at the same time.

    this could be problematic.

The Teclast X98 Air Win10 + Android4.4 3G Phablet at €163 delivered(unless you get stung by customs, €194 if you choose to get it shipped from EU) is a better deal imho. Longer lasting battery, no overheating issues and from what I've read, no noticeable performance difference in real life usage.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Yeah it's a good looking tablet alright. I have to say though the cherry trail cpus when utilised properly look fantastic! There is a video up of a guy playing battlefield 4 at like 30fps!! He modded his x98 pro though for better cooling which isn't a risk I'm prepared to take. That's why I want to see what the other manufacturers come up with before I decide.

I'm going to try to mod mine if the overheating issue still exists. Looks about as difficult as replacing a cpu fan, except in miniature.

how about the first hand using experience, especially the win10 OS, is it much better than the win8.1 OS?

The new Cherry Trail's are nice alright, finally! Bear in mind though, this tablet is quite slim and I can't really see where the heat dissipation is going. This chip is rated at 2W average design power so it shouldn't get that hot. Bear in mind it is rated up to a maximum of 90oC so if the OEM's heat dissipation design is lacking, you will feel it.

Anything to do with the graphics execution units going full pelt will have this thing as hot as it can go. So I would imagine gaming is a no-no unless you don't mind severe throttling.

    EDIT:

Just read this review. http://techtablets.com/teclast-x98-pro/review/ Yeah those temps are worrying, but if you are impatient and into a bit of modding, they could be brought down. The 'heatspreader' design used in this yoke is pretty diabolical though. Not that they have a lot of room to play with though..

Looks like a great piece of kit though!

Just wanted to chip in to say that I got the predecessor of this, the X98 Air II. Came with Android 4.4 and Win 8.1.

I updated to Win 10, which runs as smooth as silk. I've tried Portal I and II, and Half-Life 2 on it, which run perfectly with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Tends to throttle due to heating in Android mode, but not so much in Windows.

Build quality is top notch, really solid and responsive.

Oh, and it came with a full, legit copy of Office 365 as well, with licence for PC, mobile and tablet!

    Bargain of the year.

I've seen how it's possible to get the licence key for that and sell it if you're not interested in keeping the software which I would probably end up doing. Nice way to earn back around 40 euro!

Chuwi have released their version for pre order (Nov 10th).....

seems to be a bit of confusion over the Intel chip; either the tablet has the z8300 or the z8500.
Because the z8300 does not support 4gb ram yet its in the specs.

anyone got a view on this?

It was about 63 euro to clear customs. They asked for an invoice or a PayPal proof of payment.

    Very tempted by this.

(I swear I'm not 12:pac:) But has anyone tried it with MineCraft? I'm sure it handles the Windows 10 version grand but what about the full version?

And also what about Sims 4?

    Cheers.

You'd be almost garunteed customs on that at this time of the year, would really push the price up. Anywhere selling it with customs paid I wonder?
