Very interesting article about road deaths with detailed graphics and statistics:

Statistically, a collision occurs twice on this standard of road in Ireland for every 100 kilometres of travel

I must have been awful lucky - this morning I drove 100 kilometers, and didn't have any collisions!

The N21 Stats don't surprise me one bit. Very frustrating road, littered with 70-80 kmh dawdlers and rentals.

The positive impacts of motorways is telling too. Laois went from 12 deaths in 2008 to 0 in 2012. Same time as the M7/8 were completed.
