Breaking: Germany to reinstate border controls with immediate effect

Germany has reintroduced border controls along its border with Austria in a move that represents a part suspension of one of the founding principles of modern Europe: free movement of people.

Controls are to be introduced on the road crossings and Germany has stopped train traffic from Austria in an attempt to slow the influx, which has seen 13,000 people arrive in the country on Saturday alone, and another 3,000 on Sunday morning.

The move illustrates the strain Germany, which has said it expects 800,000 asylum seekers to reach the country this year, is under as it continues its policy of welcoming migrants.

City authorities in Munich have said they are "at the limit" in terms of the numbers they can house.

Interesting developments-after being lectured by Merkel for the last 2 weeks about how we all have to take migrants, the Germans have now done a complete 180 degree turn.

Maybe the realities of trying to rehouse the entire developing world and Syrian refugees has finally started to dawn on our glorious leaders......
