Best airline for First Class Transatlantic?

Im travelling from LAX to Dublin next Spring and was wondering what are the best airlines if you wanted to travel first class- the best food, most comfortable seating etc? I notice Aer Lingus offer a "Business" class which is not exactly what Im looking for, Im just looking for comfy seating, fab food and good in-flight entertainment. Having a laptop connection or wifi means nothing to me. Anyone out there any advice on this? I realise that I may have to go to Heathrow before going back to Ireland as many airlines dont go direct. Thanks.

Virgin Atlantic are pretty amazing from LHR. As are BA. But VS are the ones I have experience with - absolutely amazing.

You're going to get much better choice if you're willing to do LAX to DUB via London, Paris or Amsterdam.

This opens up the possibility of Lufthasa, Etihad, Emirates, Turkish, Virgin, BA, Air France and more. All of them offer a great first class service.

I don't believe there is any airline with a first class to/from Ireland.

Emirates are the only airline that has first class on Dublin flights.

Delta have first class from Dublin as well. It's called Business Elite.

That's not First Class it's a business class product. Business Elite qualifies as first for internal US flights but not for TransAtlantic. It's not even a particularly high quality business class either IMO.

    http://www.worldairlineawards.com/Awards/best_first_class_airlines.html

This lists the best airlines for first class. Since Etihad, Singapore etc. obviously aren't suitable for transatlantic flights, Lufthansa seems to be your best option.

Personally (from experience) I would say that of all the European airlines, SWISS offer the best First Class service.

How did they compare to Virgin / BAs first?

BA use their A380 from LHR-LAX for their afternoon flight if that's something that interests you.

It's a superior product in both cabin ambience and service - hard to beat!

Really seems to contradict most recent reviews as Swiss 1st class is very dated due to their fleet make up, may change when their recent orders come on line

As a matter of interest when did you last fly BA 1st class as their recent 1st refreshes are very impressive especially their a380 / 777 and 787-9 offerings

My virgin reference was a trick one ;)

I found Lufthansa first very good, wasn't that impressed with Swiss, BA was quite good as well.

BA are doing a promotion, buy business return and get an upgrade to first one way.
