I'm sure this has been asked plenty in here but I've just started a new job and want to treat myself by purchasing a nice new suit.

Probably can't afford a tailored suit at the moment, how much would I be talking there? But instead buying a good suit off the rail and having it fitted. Budget is probably around 400-500. I don't mind purchasing online if that it a good route to go either.

Basically I don't know too much about buying a good suit, have previously only purchased relatively cheap ones from M&S. So if anyone could guide me through what I should be looking at in buying a good suit it would be much appreciated!

Why not go for a more expensive M&S suit? They have some very nice ones in your price range.

Yeah that's definitely an option aswell, I just want to ensure I get the most out of my money.

Also could anyone recommend a place in that Dublin is good for suit alterations?

Depending on your shape, Remus make lovely fitted suits. A 3 piece for around 299e.

I have 3 suits - great quality and for me, who finds it difficult getting a suit that isn't swimming on me, a great fit too. Bests stock them, amongst other stores
