My friend came home from the US on Monday and went straight to tax his car, it was due August but when there he was finded €67 and had to back tax for the month with he understood but didn't mind but the €67 fine was rough.
Seems just like a revenue gimmick

Motor tax fine is €60, not €67 so I assume it was arrears he had to pay?

    Agreed

€67 corresponds nicely to the €67.30 monthly arrears on a 1801-1900CC based on engine size. There's no matching arrears on the CO2 rates

Guessing they didn't declare it, it sounds like arrears though not a fine.

'Gimmick' ˈɡɪmɪk/ Noun. To charge the set amount.

Think you might be on to something there OP. Thanks for letting us know.
