And this is why they are such a successful outfit:

"All boxers are given a 3 week trial period, to get in shape. After that time, if you want to carry on you will be expected to start sparring and make a commitment to the club, to represent the club as a Repton Boxer."

I worked in Bethnal Green for years and directed a few Bangladeshi kids I know toward the club; when I arrived the youth coach spelled that out in no uncertain terms. Competition is the soul of the club and if you weren't capable of competing you were out the door basically. Ruthless, but effective.

Absolutely. We have debated this many times here. Simple: A boxing club is for boxing, and that means boxing. End of. There are instances where I would allow non boxers in, but they'd have to be of value to the club and the competing boxers.

I get be used when people question that though, as if a soccer club would allow people to show up for training with zero intention of playing a match or even joining in practice games amongst the team. That having been said, boxing is a different animal and the fact we have recreational people at a club allows the club to actually survive.
