4G Smartphone

I would always tend to avoid no brand Chinese phones. While they have gotten better, they generally suffer from a lack of software updates by the manufacturer, bad battery life and questionable build quality. As the phone is sent from outside the EU, you will be liable for a hefty VAT bill also.

I wouldn't go near one of those things. Got stung with one of the Mediatek smartphones that had good specs. The audio output through headphones was dire. Even worse when I thethered the 4G to my laptop the phone would heat up and blackout after a while of use. Total fail.

I now use a 99 euro samsung smartphone 4G quad core , 8gb memory. More than good enough for me and does everything well.

Certainly not a bargain, typical Chinese fare. If it arrives broken/faulty you can also consider yourself fooked.

Lot's of excellent value smartphones available locally for nearly the same money.

I got the Vodafone Smart Prime 6 last week. It's very good for €90. Would recommend.

Chinese phones can be brilliant, stick to the well known sellers. Much better value that some of the crap youd buy here in a so called local shop that's owned by a UK chain store anyway.

Its presale with release date a month away which going on past release lead times could end being 2 months minimum

I'd rather the benefit of buying it locally as I then get a full warranty, and I am also covered by consumer law. Chinese phones have a tendency to die or become faulty quite quickly. Especially the lesser-known brands. I'd buy Xiaomi no problem from within the EU but certainly wouldn't fork out €100+ for a device coming directly from China.

Getting a warranty fulfilled from some of the Irish businesses is like drawing blood from a stone. I personally would prefer to spend 150 on a phone and take the chance that'll it'll last for a year or 2 than pay 3-400 to get a similarly spec'd phone here. I'd root all my phones anyway so a warranty is absolutely useless to me.

There would be quite a few like me around here.

Getting a warranty fulfilled from a Chinese seller with broken English and expensive postage costs is even worse I'd say :D

I've always wanted to give one of these phones a shot, if you don't expect much then you can't be disappointed.

As I said, warranty is useless if you root it. Which in my opinion is a must these days.

Rooting doesn't void your warranty in the EU.This has come up here many times in the past

Techmaster, what phones from China have you owned out of interest? You have very little good things to say, but I've never seen any real proof about these bad experiences. Anything I've seen or done with china has been a better experience than here in Ireland. Most of the phone shops are a complete joke.
