LeMond Revolution

I am thinking of getting a turbo for the winter months. Does anyone have a LeMond revolution and can they let me know if it is worth it. The fact that they don't slip and you don't have to have a special training wheel is appealing but they are a bit more expensive. Any thoughts, thanks.

I have a lemond trainer, probably the most realistic trainer I've ever used and probably my favorite to use. The downside, apart from the cost, is the noise. It sounds like jet engine. Too noisy to use indoors so has to be used in garage or a shed. It is really really loud. If you have a separate space from the house you can put it in it will work, otherwise it doesn't really work indoors.

Have a look at the elite muin trainer too, same idea being a direct drive trainer, no other wheels or slippage. Not half as loud as the lemond, it's fluid based opposed to fan based so a lot quieter. Cheaper too and easier to buy. Bike24.com had them for around 450 euro delivered. Need a cassette for it too though. Not as realistic feeling as the lemond but still very good.

I have both trainers so if you have any questions on either just ask away!

Thanks, will take a look at the elite. I have a few spare cassettes so that wont be a problem.

practically impossible to get your hands on a lemond now, or at least was 12 months ago. they're not making/exporting them any more from the US is what i was told

Seen outdoor escape in Mullingar got a few in during the last week or two but they might be all gone by now. Other than that I haven't seen them anywhere in a while now!

Elite Turbo Muin - expensive but quiet as a mouse.

Elite Turbo Muin Real even more expensive but with electronic resistance - again quiet as a mouse and now supported by Zwift.

    Both highly recommended.

Joey100, do you use the training app with the elite muin trainer? I am wondering if the power output is displayed real time or not? I understand it is done as a calculation rather than an exact measure but as long as that is consistent it will be pretty much what I am looking for. Thanks.

Nope, don't use the trainer app with it, have a power meter so use that. Have used it with Trainer road before I got the power meter and the estimate of the power was fairly accurate. Think for a trainer like the lemond or muin it is easier for them to estimate the power curve rather than a resistance based turbo where tyre pressure and how tight the wheel is to the resistance unit come into play.

I was looking at this model too, but after checking out the video I'm not sure if this one is stable enough, in the video the cyclist who was testing it did a bit of a mad sprint and some other lad had to hold the saddle - the legs don't seem to be wide enough.

I've never had any problems with the base of it being wide enough. Don't do a whole lot of out of the saddle sprinting on it either though.
