Land 'sea weed' issues.

Does anyone else have a problem with land seaweed. I found it spreads out. but can be raked up and shoveled into a wheelbarrow. I have some damp patches of ground, where it develops. It's slippy to walk on. The water filled pods pop when you walk on it! It's the very same as sea weed, but on land.

Can it be gotten rid of?

Its called Nostoc Commune and is a type of cyanobacteria commonly associated with limestone soils and rock.
It can eradicated by using algae killer from the garden centre.
