Creaking Shimano RT 82 Cycling Shoes

I have Shimano A600 SPD pedals on my road bike. For the last few years I used Shimano RT 31 Road Shoes without a problem.
Recently I decided I could use a second pair of shoes and "upgraded" to Shimano RT 82. The soles look identical to my old shoes. The shoes are very comfortable but they are making a creaking noise. There is no noise on the flat but on a climb when pushing hard there is a very annoying creaking from the shoes.
If I spray the shoes/pedals with WD40 there is no creak but I usually forget to do it until I hit the first climb. Is there any permanent solution to this very annoying creaking? Thanks.

Are you absolutely sure it's the shoes and not the pedals?
