I have ufh installed 5 years and the flow valves on the manifolds are all covered on the inside with orange residue and guessing the pipes are lined with this too. Would it be worth getting some one in to power flush and add an inhibitor to system ? No inhibitor was added when system installed. Guessing not every plumber will do a power flush on ufh and from reading other posts some plumbers seem to only do a sub standard job power flushing a regular central heating radiator system. Would I benefit from the system being cleaned ? Should I install a magnaflow filter ? Thanks in advance for any info.

If the system needs a powerflush then post your location and I'll pm you a reccomendation.
Now, as UFH is mostly made up of plastic, you shouldn't really be getting oxidation in the system. That said, if you've s leak, and an automatic filling valve, then anything made of steel (manifolds, boiler, or rads upstairs) on your system will rust and turn the water to that orange colour you mention.

Hi Dtp1979, thanks for reply that's exactly what I was hoping for was going to search on google for some one but from reading on boards some of these guys will promise the world and deliver nothing. The heating is working great but I think it could benefit from a flush and an inhibitor. My water at time of filling/installing was straight from a freshly dug well and untreated and I think this may have contributed to this build up of staining on the manifold flow valves. It doesn't have an automatic filler and the pressure on system hasn't ever dropped so I reckon there is no leaks (touch wood). The system was purchased from Unipipe and I have asked them what inhibitor they recommend (fernox) should I query what chemicals they approve on their plastic pipes for flushing the system ?

    @ hatchman

I'm in the same position...have you made any progress in cleaning-up the system, please !?

    Thanks

I have a good contact in my area thanks to Dtp1979 but I haven't done anything yet . not sure if I should bother was going to see out this winter and maybe get it flushed in spring. Thinking just a change of water may solve the problem rather than a power flush. Its working OK I think ! Very little info on whether its required or not. Does anyone know would it improve its over all efficiency? If you find any info I would be very interested to know.

Best thing you could do is take a sample of the water and send it to a lab or to fernox
