A friend is thinking of returning to ireland and wants to bring their sky uk cardwith them. One question, if they hook up on demand when in ireland will sky either block it or cancel the card? ie the ip address will be ireland and a different provider.

    Hope that makes sense!!

Sky do apparently allow customers to move their account from the UK to Ireland, but your friend will have to contact them.

On thread warning: there is no discussing anything that involves breaking Sky's terms and conditions. I will close this thread and may issue bans if that's the road people want to go down

Sky have no restriction on using Sky Go anywhere in the UK or Ireland. There is no issues involving the use of Sky Go in Ireland if using a UK account and vice versa.

From my experience, yes, it works.

I don't know why the mod is getting all uppity here but if the card is a genuine UK paid for card it should work. I tried it once with a relatives UK card in my box and it worked perfectly. I had sky BB at that time so maybe that helped and it was years ago before all the EPG updates.

Because it's against the t&c's of sky.

Is it? I didn't know that tbh but it seems stupid if the card is a genuine UK sub, it's probably more to do with that stupid BBC iPlayer/ ITV Player geo blocking that anyone with quarter of a brain can circumvent.... The sooner that geo blocking malarkey is stopped the better.

Or things like cross border channel rights, geoblpcking ending might sound great but ending it would up the cost to the consumer as the production companies wouldn't be able sell it to as many companies and one company would end up controlling the market. RTE get things much cheaper because they have a small market

Was there talks a few months ago about the E.U. wanting it stopped? Maybe I was after having a few libations and imagined it.

The EU want open broadcasting but the to companies will get around that. Like forcing the EU countries to show the same 3pm
    football game and such like

Works fine. I have Northern Ireland HD sub in ROI - all on demand including BBC iPlayer, ITV player and all4 content working fine with Irish IP (Vodafone ASDL Broadband). Hope this helps - PM me if you need anything else
