    Hi,
I just took delivery of a fab golf Mk7 (edition 40)
The radio has app-connect and car-net features.

These don't seem to be active in Ireland ...yet?

ANyone know what happening with them?

Search on internet says that google earth can be used with it, also phone mirror etc.

Needs a connection to the internet as well.

    Anyone?

What phone are you trying to use?

The phone has not much to do with it?

Its activation of the vw side of it I think (Samsung Alpha - is the phone)

Here's the process of setting up car-net, although I'm not sure if it works in Ireland

To get App-connect to work you will need to have updated the phone to the latest version of Android and installed the Android Auto app, this will allow you to run Android Auto on the headunit will runs completely from the phone.

This was a paid option so if it's asking for an activation code you will need to ask the dealer to apply it and this will cost and only some dealers seem to be aware that this is possible.

It seems to look for a code or some thing?

Have you activated it? (In Ireland?)

Is that when you're pressing App-connect in the car?

If it's a Vw you have to order app connect from VW its 290 euro fitted 1 day delivery 1 hour installed
Car net isn't great it's very slow, go online to carnet VW put in your details and they ll give you a code, enter code 3 times

Hi. Have you used the app connect?
Is it better than carnet? I have car net working, but all it seems good for is uploading sat nav destinations.

It's not worth the €300 anyway in my opinion.

Anyone get the traffic option of car-net to work. I have car-net working on my 2016 Jetta and it even lists traffic as a service. But no traffic shown on the sat nav or on the traffic view on the radio. I am in Ireland..

I don't think that service is active in Ireland. If you want traffic info using Google maps is probably the simplest solution if you're on Android.

Sorry for the bump. I'm collecting a my new Golf on Saturday - I'm just wondering what the story is with this today with the technology pack thrown in for 172 reg'd cars? I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer but he's a hard man to get a hold of this week!

With the 172 tech pack you should indeed have that.
