MagSafe adaptor stopped working

This morning my MagSafe adaptor stopped working.
I find it strange though as the cable has always been plugged in under my desk and never moved.
I installed the El Capitan GM this morning and am thinking that may have something to do with it.
I've checked the connections and can't see any issues, and I've reset the SMC.

Any other thoughts on this? Could this be cause by installing the new version of the OS? Any other steps I can take to troubleshoot?

MacBook is from 2013 and the cable is not old.

Thanks for the reply. I checked that, and it was ok.
I brought it into a Compu B yesterday and tried the charger with one of their laptops - it worked fine!
So the issue is with my laptop, not the charger. I don't know how to further troubleshoot this myself though - I might just have to pay them to look into in :(
