just started building - not that clued in on heating options, previously decided with engineer

    150ml full fill xtratherm insulation
    underfloor heating
    air to water heat pump
    heat recovery system
    air tightness test
    triple glazing uvpc

is it sufficient and a decent standard for a modern house?

....sorry for the silly question, but if you've started building already, surely you're past all this............. ??

no just the foundation in and waiting on blocklayer to start next week so still time to change decision on heating, more than likely going for above but just wanted consensus that it seems reasonable

what is the payback time of the air to water heat pump and heat recovery system? Insulate the house well, make it airtight ideally or near it and put in modern combi boiler that you can zone heating with and provides instant and unlimited hot water on demand IMO...

If the house is airtight (or near to it) how is ventilation going to be handled without mvhr?

What is the payback period of a nice couch? or a granite counter top? or a solid oak stairs? People are obsessed with payback period for certain aspects of a house and neglect to consider comfort and convenience.

What does your preliminary BER say?

What's your air tightness target and how will you achieve/exceed it?
How are you dealing with thermal bridges?

...I think you're coming at it from the wrong side tbh. You design the building first, get it's heat requirement from your BER, and then find which (heating and ventilation ) system works for it, for you, for your budget.

Otherwise you're just spending money without any notion of why.
