Hi, I have shares in the Second, Fifth and Seventh Irish Forestry Funds (2 of each). They were promising fantastic returns when they were released. I wonder does anybody have any idea what they maybe worth when they would mature??

I know its a bit off topic but I'm a private forestry owner and It's not going to make a huge return when it matures but sure I was told before I planted it by self interested parties that id never see a poor day again, well I'd take that with a pinch of salt!!

Could be true if you planted 500 acres with grants etc..? I don't expect these shares will sort me out for life, they were projecting 12 to 14% pa, I was wondering if someone had an educated inclin if it was accurate or more like 6%?

bump, lot of cheques landing this week, absolutely insulting return on investment of about 1.5% over 10 years.

An absolute joke. I bought 2 shares in April 2004, total investment 1500, got a cheque today for about 1740. Would have been as well off in the post office. I was particularly struck by their BS letters in the last few years, which referred to having trouble "selling into a market where liquidity is scarce." There has never been so much liquidity in the market, QE has seen to that. I'd hate to see how these turkeys would have performed if the printing presses weren't churning out euros.

It took 12 years before my 10 year investment matured. What a disappointment 1.5% per year ! Was going to use the money 2 years ago to buy property. The property market has probably gone up 10 to 15 % while I was waiting on the pay out.
Got promised returns of between 5 and 8% per year.
    Forestry shares AVOID.

I see that some people asked some interesting questions about these 'investments' many many years ago

I got into forestry about four years ago as a business man and was amazed at the opportunities that are available in this industry.
I work off a very strict business formulate and as a result I found it very profitable.

I only buy forests that have three to five years left before clear fell, this generally yeild's me a very profitable return.
I use a close circle of reliable contractors and keep my costs to a mininum.
