    Hello everyone,

First of all apologies if this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it.

I just recently graduated from University with a 2.1 degree despite facing a serious illness and living away from home (Dublin to be precise) on a thight budget (by which I mean my grant of 3k per year and 50 p/w from my parents). I completed my degree without having to repeat any year too. I was advised to put this on my CV as an achievement but I am a bit worried about doing so as I dont think its anything great and the fact its about me facing illness...

What do you guys think? Would you put it?

No, if it doesn't affect you going forward, then it's of no concern on a CV.

by all means, mention that you got a 2.1 that's a great achievement. the dates will show you didn't repeat a year, mentioning the illness will just raise questions rather than answer anything

Nah I wouldn't advise it to be honest.

Even if you have a third class honors degree you'd still put it on your CV if it were relevant.

If it's not relevant to the application leave it out. Unless you anticipate a "what were doing for the period <whenever you were in college>?" question.

As for disclosure of illness, up to you. A 2.1 wouldn't really require any explanation unless you're pursuing prestigious further education that has ridiculously competitive standards. Only reason for disclosure is whether you might need work accommodations or a particular work culture. (You might be able to gauge the culture anyway without disclosure).

Btw, a 2.1 is bloody good. Well done!

Write down that you got a 2.1. The dates will show you didn't repeat any year.

Don't mention that you managed to do it while battling an illness as it could potentially just draw negative attention to your illness.

Do NOT put that on your CV.

Thanks everyone for your replies :) I only put my degree and the grade. It really didn't make sense to me to put everything else but since I was advised by someone helping me with my C.V. I thought I should get more opinions. Thank you all once again!
