Illness Benefit - non EEA spouse

    Hi folks, have a bit of a situation and wanted to see if anyone else had been through this before or maybe has some advice.

    I have a well paying job which I've been in for almost a decade - however, due for unforseen circumstances I've had to take some time off due to illness (not sure when I'll be returning, I don't think any time soon)

    Am going to apply for illness benefit, but have come upon a bit of a road block on the MC1 form and am unsure how to proceed.

    In June of this year, myself and the OH got married abroad. She's a non EEA citizen so isn't entitled to any Irish social welfare etc. She is however living back with me in Ireland now and has a Stamp 4/PPS#/GNIB card- currently working part time for the next two weeks.

    On the MC1 form it states you must fill out your spouses details. However, I'm a bit concerned for the following reasons;

    It was such a huge stress and strain dealing with immigration over the last 6 months that I don't want to jeopardize her standing in the country by trying to claim social welfare for her.

    I don't necessarily need the extra money claiming for her would bring, but the form states that I must include her information on penalty of fine/imprisonment.

    It actually has me so concerned I'm tempted to not even apply for illness benefit and live off savings.

    Has anyone been through this situation before? Would it just be a case of Social Welfare stating that she's not eligible for anything and just to pay me the base rate for myself?

    Help greatly appreciated.

    As her paper work is in order and she is working part time fill in her details and the dept will not be giving you a dependant adult payment.Just check if you need to give her details as she is working.
