Off Road & Motor Insurance

I have not been using my car over the last 12 months.
But as I didn't declare it off road I plan to transfer the car to a friend and have it transferred back to avoid back motor tax.
I will then declare it off road in the normal way.
If and when I bring it back on to the road I will insure and tax it.
Does this transfer to and from another affect the insurance in any way?
    All answers greatly appreciated. :)

Wouldn't think so. Your NCB will expire after 2 years though.

Yes - no claims bonus will expire after 2 years which would be June 2016.
But the rate of insurance wouldn't be affected by transferring the car to and from a third party I am hoping. :)

If it's a quick transfer of ownership and then back again no it won't, although technically you can't insure a car you don't own.

It wouldn't be insured until I get it back after the transfer.
I would declare it off road following transfer back to me and then insure, tax, service and NCT it all before June 2016.
Many thanks for your help Henry!

If u return to the last insurer you were with and can't show the SORN then they won't take u back... Changing vlc will sort tax issue but not insurance loop

What kind of interest they (insurer) have in off road declaration?

Ah here, there's a loading for people who can't provide written proof from a priest that they stay in every Friday watching the late late. Not getting enough fibre? Getting too much fibre? That's a loading.

SORN - Statutory Off Road Declaration
    VLC - Vehicle Licensing Certificate

Please explain - do you mean the insurance company would need require evidence of the car being off the road over this last year when I have not used it but not got a SORN.

Called Allianz and this is just not true.
They need to know if you are the current registered owner.
They are also interested in whether you qualify for a claims bonus.
So there is no insurance loop as indicated above. :)
