Using USB drives to create a server

    I have a number of external USB drives (2TB+) which are just sitting in a drawer. I now have a need for a server as we've moved from two employees to four.

    Can I pick up a Mac Mini & install server on it & hook them up as shared drives or would I be better off buying something like a HP Server (seen in bargain alerts) & use the drives in that instead (take them out of their cases).

    The server would mostly be used for storage & system backups.

    mac mini would be really easy to setup.

    I was thinking that, but I've no experience of setting up a mac network. do users "log on" in the morning, can they map drives etc?

    you can easily map drives by adding the server as a login item. if you've no experience, I'd definitely go mac server its easily setup.
