Sound proofing windows

    Hi All,

I am currently living in a rented flat. My bedroom window is facing a busy roadway. The window is double glazed and is .83m wide by 1.12m high.

What I want to know is, is there any way of sound proofing the window at night time to keep out the noise?

Since I am in rented flat, I would not be able to fix something to the window all the time but something that can be removed each morning.

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

    Stephen

How about heavy floor length curtains?

Have you checked the seals around the window and its openings. If the window opening isnt tight when closed then you will hear road noise much more.
If the seals are gone or the window opening isnt tight, then ask your landlord to fix it for you. This can be done by fitting new seals or adjusting the hinges and lock handles on the window.
Heavy lined curtains will also help to mask the outside noise a bit too.

Exactly this, get heavy lined curtains, like what you would have in a hotel.
