Trails/hills near Youghal?

Heading there for a few days in a couple of weeks.

Might just head for a run along the beach, though not a huge fan of running up and down a beach. The alternative is to drive up to the Knockmealdowns and try the IMRA route. Anyone got any other suggestions for an longish trail around there?

    Thanks.

Try curragh woods just outside Middleton for a nice trail run..not full of scenic views but a nice trail none the less with various loops to keep you running for a couple o hours http://www.coillteoutdoors.ie/index.php?id=171&rec_site=23
For a lovely long beach run..drive to Garryvoe beach (15/20min),and you can run for miles either direction..
Nice cliff top run in Ballycotton..drive to end of village , past pier, the road ends at trail head where u can park up and its a really really great run. Thats the one I'd do if I was you. Only need road runners ..

Contact the lads in Waterford Trail Runners on Facebook. They would know routes down that way.

Oh thanks, didn't know there was such a group.

Incidentally can one run across Garryvoe Beach and on to the cliffs in Ballycotton staying along the sea all the way? Afair the village of Ballycotton itself probably "gets in the way".

I used to do that as a lad, from garryvoe to ballycotton . Used to pop out just before the village . don't know is it still accessible. but you can exit off the beach just before ball cotton and its about a 1 mile run to the village. Actually nice way to mix it up..beach, road and trail. Nice way to spend a few hours or more ;-)
