Make sure if you don't intend to continue with the subscription and just want 30 days free, that you cancel 15 days before first billing cycle.

Hopefully this new Irish edition is good. One of the reasons I cancelled this when I had it before was the lack of Irish content.

That's my main reason for cancelling the English subscription. If the Irish version is good I will probably stick with it :)

They sure make that difficult too, only way is to ring a 0800 UK number which prob costs a bomb.

If you opt to pay via PayPal then you can just cancel the pre-approved payments on your PayPal profile.

really only 15 days for one euro if you want to cancel as they cancel your subscription immediately.

App on the iphone and ipad is impressive but had a lot of hassle cancelling before. Football coverage is excellent.

then my irish sub kicks in on the 11th at €1 for the 30 days
I agree the sports and football in general is second to none that's my main reason

You can get 3 months free access from this page.

Does one cancel 15 days before the end of the 3 months, with this package, to prevent been billed?

Could you not use email aliases?

    E.g.
    boardsuser@gmail.com
    boards.user@gmail.com
    board.suser@gmail.com
    boardsuser+1@gmail.com
    boardsuser+2@gmail.com

Anything after the + redirects it to your standard email address. Any dots are ignored.

Nice deal alright, just set a reminder to cancel as this deal rolls into a yearly contract. If you forget you are looking at €250 for a year!

Just signed up via PayPal and cancelled using this method. Also spoke to a rep via their online chat thingy who said if I rang up and cancelled after a couple of weeks, I'd still get the full three months access.

That wouldn't make sense. We connect from multiple devices now, so I'd assume not. A laptop or tablet in your house would pick up a different IP address than your mobile on the go. As would logging in at an internet cafe, or public WiFi. So, I'd assume not.

that's for the €1 deal for a month. Free for 3 months rolls into an annual contract.

There seems to be confusion going on between the terms of the 30 day offer and the terms of the 3 month offer.

For the 3 month offer, the Sunday Times website seems to contradict itself. The below 3 statements all apply to the 3 month contract.
Free for the first three months
€5 per week (€21.67 per month) thereafter
    3 month minimum contract
There is an initial three month term. After that you will be moving to a rolling monthly contract. You can cancel your membership 15 days before the end of your trial period. Simply contact our Member Services team
    Minimum 12 month contract applies

Is the contract 12 months or a 1 month rolling contract after the 3 month period?
Do you cancel via PayPal or via the Members Services Team?
Can you subscribe, cancel straight away, and keep the access for 3 months? or do you need to wait till 15 days before the end of the trial period?

can someone answer the last q?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭ElNino

If you cancel on Paypal I am pretty sure that the Times is not notified and they will only find out when they try and process the next payment. So you should get most if not all the 3 month trial before your subscription is cancelled.
