Hey, I have NCT due this Saturday, and I am 100% sure it will fail on something, I need car to go to work.

Are there any mechanics that give you or rent you out for cheap a replacement car while yours is being fixed?

    Thanks.

    P.S - Around Tallaght/Blanch areas.

You'll have to go to a stealer for one

any main dealer will rent you a car from the forecourt for the day.

You'd be doing well to find an independent mechanic who would have a rental onsite.

Try enterprise or one of the rental companies .. a single days rent wouldn't break the bank

I also have option to take few days off at work, but have to make sure car gets actually fixed in those few days.

    Not sure yet, it's golf mk4 1.4.

I have feeling that it will most likely fail on suspension and alignment.

If you're so sure it'll fail - take car to one of those Free Pre-NCT and let them have a look.

Here's a few I googled for you, best ring and check about the "free" part.

    http://www.fastfit.ie/services/nct.php

Don't get anything fixed until NCT have had their say too (unless it's something really obvious like broken bulbs).

    Failed NCT as predicted.

    + 2nd sheet has notes:

    1) Mechanical Brake Components - Brake Lining Condition - Worn/Nearside Rear.
    2) Wheel Bearings - Condition - Worn/Offside Rear.
    3) Body Work - Door/Boot not opening/closing properly - Offside.

How much am I looking to pay for fixing all that?

I'm just shocked your front wheels didn't come off.. has this car ever been serviced properly? Your probably looking at spending what it's nearly worth..close to a grand I reckon if I'm reading that right.

Once you are good on the engine side of things - given the car that we are talking about, you are certainly in a healthy situation.
Wheel bearing, brakes all round, wishbone bushes and boots on steering rack.
Not too bad. Oil leak could be anything so hard to say about that.

Mechanic/tester said leak is minor problem.

Why would they come off? I don't understand too much of report.

a figure of speech...if it was badly worn it can cause balancing issues..they tend to need replacing around the 100k miles mark depending on driving..
you're talking about 200 for both anyway..

Front pads, rack gaitors (or maybe just loose)
couple of easy bushes and fix or wash the oil leak.

Notes= rear pads or shoes, wheel bearing, fix the lock, all easy

Throw a wheel alignment charge in there aswell your sorted for €400 max. 5 hrs off the road.

4-500 quid including labour with that. Good mechanic 3-4 hours and car back then.
Any garage says otherwise don't bother.
Also tell the garage to ring you when they have all the parts first because parts places are never guaranteed to send up the correct parts. This can often lead to the car being kept in the garage for longer period.

It'll cost a fair few bob, and even when it's done it'll be dog slow. Oh well.
