why go to the bother when you can slit the teat with a knife

Need to cut It At the tip of the teat to simulate a free flowing cows teat.

You'll have to replace the teat now anyway. The milk bar type teats should fit them as well. It'll be slow at the start but eventually they'll get used to it and speed up. Better too slow than too fast. If you want to make it faster just widen tge slit already at front of teat but not too much

Its a real balancing act with teats..
Your right in that you don't want him exhausted, but the teat needs some resistance so he still has to suck the milk.. The sucking action releases the saliva which is essential to proper digestion of the milk. this is one reason that calves drinking straight from buckets (rather than teat feeders) are more prone to scour and such like..

I replaced the teats on my drinkers when calves were 8 weeks old in last batch this year to break them in for next. Took them twenty mins longer that morning and they went into straw and slept most of the day. They were exhausted.
